About Renee

Media personality, author, and keynote speaker Renee Eaves has been through what many would describe as an intriguing and unthinkable journey, which has shaped her passion for resilience, advocacy, and support for others going through adversity.

She was the first woman to self-represent and take successful legal action for assault and deprivation of liberty, thus setting case law and later publishing a book, “Flirt with Justice” about her experience.

She has a background in Counselling holds a Post Graduate in Domestic Violence as a Specialist, and in her commitment to having a high level of education to best complement her passion, will see her finalising a Master’s of Justice this year, majoring in response to sexual violence.

Renee’s commitment to justice has seen her contribute at the highest levels of public advocacy and reform. She was personally invited to represent people experiencing reprisals after making public interest disclosures (PID) during the visit of the United Nations Special Rapporteur to Australia, raising concerns that no one had been charged with a reprisal since the commencement of that legislation, she was nominated for a Human Rights Award in 2017 for her submission into Task Force Bletchley, and won Best Short Film in the Humanitarian Division in 2015 for her work raising awareness of a significant social justice issue.

Her influence has extended far beyond advocacy into tangible legal reform. Recommendations she provided throughout the Crime and Corruption Commission’s Operation Impala were subsequently reflected in the Commission’s findings, including recommendations for the creation of new criminal offences relating to the misuse of confidential information and amendments to section 408E of the Criminal Code (Computer Hacking) for it to be made an indictable offence.

These outcomes stand as a testament to her ability to transform lived experience, passion, and public advocacy into meaningful and actual legal systemic change.

Those who have worked with her agree she has the innate ability to understand complicated predicaments. Her testimonial page outlines just how diverse her experience is, and at the centre of all of the incredible stories are people who were experiencing the most challenging personal and legal predicaments of their life, simultaneously. A well-known combination whereby those without support often don’t survive.

It has often been the adversity experienced by people that has driven Renee to appear on numerous news and TV shows, giving insight to countless social justice topics where she believed lending her experience and using her voice would be a contribution to positive change.

In total contrast to the path she walks today, Renee’s journey began as a swimsuit model. In her signature style of humour, she jokes that even in a Bikini, nothing was done in halves. She took out the title of Miss Bikini World in the Bahamas in 1999, representing Australia, and went on to become a successful, fast-scaled woman in business, producing dynamic stage shows based in some of the biggest Casinos around the World.

A life, she says, gave her a baseline of sparkle that expanded into an unimaginable chain of events, proving that sometimes the most extraordinary journeys are not the ones we plan, but the ones that call us toward a purpose far greater than ourselves.
